Does Martin Shkreli run VRBO? - Rescind the service fee now

This is my first and last year with VRBO. We signed up as a subscription service member for a year back in February and thought we had made a good decision. Wish we had not done it. We will stay for the length of our paid annual subscription, but not a moment more. The surprise fee you pulled on us and our renters reminds me of Martin Shkrelis business tactics. I will not support a company that operates in this manner. Your service fee provides no value to prospective renters aside from lightening their wallet and lining yours.

Terrible app & disappointing new fee to renters

First the app is not the great if you are using it from a iPad. The screen doesnt rotate to landscape so you have to use it upright. Im always getting errors when it comes to check message from renters/potential renters. Im not sure if VRBO mentioned this before they made the move but a new fee is being added to renters. In one case it was over $100 for a renter. We as owners already pay a fee to VRBO. I believe when we refund their money after a stay they pay a fee and now a new fee that is for marketing thats pretty weak. What its going to do is make owners have to lower their price of the rental or hope that their home gets rented with the higher fee.

Meh.

Im just going to stick to reviewing the actual app. It certainly isnt as functional as the website, so I use it only for quick responses to guests. Never for booking or anything complicated. Its also a hassle to go to the website on my phone and have to constantly "skip" the advertisement for the app I already have but dont like to use.

as a new vacation home renter and with 3 vacation sites for the past year, this app is totally useless and will be deleting it from my phone desktop. the whole point to an app vs. website does not exist here, there is no convenience, no way to make the necessary functions and always have to close the app and run to my home computer to do any type of transactions. this means my customers have to wait. not good vrbo. the airbnb app is much more useable and enjoyable.

Slowly improving.

Much better than it used to be. More user options now. Notices of payments, holds, refunds etc would be helpful. Not sure about new fees. Inbox and Calendar very handy.

EXTREMELY PLEASED!

As a condo owner who has used a management company for years (but I got tired of their exorbitant %), VRBO has made it SO EASY for me to do it for myself! Thank you! Love all your suggestions (that make me look like I know what Im doing!) and templates!

Very Disappointed

I must say that I agree with most of these comments. First, it seems like I always have to type in my username and password every time I access this new app. Second, Im very disappointed in the new fees VRBO is assigning to our potential renters. Im guiding more and more of my renters to pay by check to avoid these fees. Something needs to change.....I dont like the extra inconvenience this is causing!!

Downloaded new version several times????

I keep downloading the "new" version every time Im asked but it doesnt seem to be any different. I keep getting asked every time I log in to the app. Pls fix before the transition date.

This app does not allow to edit the rates, among other things.

Worst move for VRBO

I cant believe they put in a change without notifying owners that they would be charging a service fee. This happened out of the blue. My guest will not be happy. The worst part is there is no need for it. I contact my guest and pay a manager as well so over the past year not one of my guest has had to contact VRBO for a thing. Its ridiculous. I cant even get a booking from the decreased inquiries thanks to VRBO adding extra fees. At least make the app as functional as it is online for smartphones and tablets. Hopefully I wont have to use it much longer when I find another company to list my property.

Stay Away!

Horrible company, horrible app! So YOU own a second home and want to make some extra money? WRONG! Expedia/HomeAway now control every aspect of your vacation rental. Next they are going to ask to be listed on your deed.

Why are they going to ask for a fee when one pay a yearly fee. Not only that I want to add the payment option for my guests and keeps giving me a hard time. It is my property and it is under my name.

HomeAways recent huge rate hike for owners combined with their new service fee for guests amounts to one thing: GREED! No other comment necessary!

VRBO: From best to worst in one fell swoop!

In all my years, I thought I had seen everything in terms of corporate greed. Vast numbers of owners bought their dream properties based on the good name of pre-expedia VRBO. Its totally galling to witness. Not only do they proudly "roll out" a new service fee without any notice to the owners, they state that we were advised in advance by e-mail ( we were not), but then told that this was being done to improve marketing. Then follows this useless app as an example of their efforts. The homeaway ceo posted a note virtually saying "sorry bout that, but thats the way it is" and not a peep since. Inquiries dwindled to virtually nil, and those that did took one look at service fee and never heard from again. Shame on you homeaway.

Worse ever

Will get a email with booking request but then the app wont show it. It crashes often! Worse app ever. Your app people need to take a look at Airbnb app, they have master the app to make it simple and easy. Worse app ever !

Crap

Seems like crap to make me download your new app and make the other stop working. The least you could do is make the new app actually work. Currently have inquiries that need responses but I cant even get the app to open.

So far; Terrible

Somehow Vrbo decided to take away my decision making and timing of rentals. I dont want to use their payment process, and dont want to send out form email; nor decline reservations on the timeline Vrbo wants : Awful!

Terrible App - Terrible company

This app is an Alpha release at best. Do yourself a favor and delist from VRBO. There are too many great options out there to play ball with these crooks.
